What are the benefits of a virtual doula?

  • Having a virtual doula offers the same benefits as an in-person doula, no matter where you live! While we are based in Chicago, we are thrilled to be able to reach Black women preparing for birth all over the country because we know how important it is to have someone in your corner who understands the unique struggles we face. In the age of COVID-19, virtual doulas are an excellent option for hospitals or birthing centers with restricted policies around labor teams.

  • Individual benefits of a virtual doula include a source for emotional support, knowledgeable preparation and postpartum care. Your doula will empower you to advocate for yourself if she can’t be there with you in person, whether that’s with your medical team, your family or your partner. Having a doula on your side has been proven to improve birth outcomes for the baby and health outcomes for mamas.
